The Holiday Inn Vanderbilt hosted the 4th recognition tennis dinner on June 6, 2016 in honor of the accomplishments of high school players in the Middle Tennessee area. The event is named in memory of tennis champion Sean Karl. Mike Karl remembered his son Sean as a fiery competitor with the will to win every match he played. The junior standout tennis players, families and coaches also heard from Thay Butchee, former Head Tennis Pro at Belle Meade Country Club, outstanding coach and current world class player. He relayed his message of playing with passion and developing as a junior player to carry the drive and practice habits with you for a lifetime.
George Harwell, Boys State Champion from MBA was the recipient of the "Sean Karl Award" this year for his outstanding play, dedication to the game and for representing a player with the Heart of a Champion.
